Rasmus Lerdorf is known for having gotten the PHP project off the ground in 1995 and has contributed to a number of other open source projects over the years. He was an infrastructure architect at Yahoo! for more than 7 years and joined Etsy in 2012. PHP has been around since the beginning of the Web. It has shaped and influenced many of the sites we use every day. Now, getting close to its 25th birthday, can it still make an impact?
For many in the PHP community 2016 was all about getting onto PHP 7. The drastic efficiency improvements has had an impact on a number of large sites and we are seeing a high rate of adoption for this shiny new and super fast version of PHP.
